The person I admire

People have many different admirers. It could be their mom, their dad, their brother, or anyone who has influenced their lives.

The person I admire is my mom. My mom has always been there for me. She's the one who has stuck with me my whole life. She's was the one who raised, and even though my father left, she decided that she'll be the one to raise. My mom is the best thing in the world. My mom works to put food on the table, to keeps us under a roof, and everything she can to keep us safe.

When I'm in trouble, my mom tries to solve the problem as peaceful as possible. If my mom as violent, it's probably because the situation is the worst of all. She has thought me to respect people, to know what is the value of life, my mom is the meaning of life to me. I love my mom!

A response to a stressful situation

Everyone goes through stressful situation. They say they don't know what to do, and they just give up. But if you try a little harder, you'll find the solution.

A month ago, I was stressing over love. My girl and I broke up. I was so sad because I didn't know what to do. I just wanted to give everything up. To me, not even education was important. I asked my mom what the whole point of education was. I was sad and depressed. I thought my whole life was ruin because I was with that girl almost a year and I really loved her.

Then, I asked myself this question. "What am I doing?' I told myself that I had my whole life ahead of me. That there was many girls in the world who would love me as much as her or even more. So, I just started focusing on school, and I still am. If I find the right one for me, than I did, but if I don't then I'll just keep going until I find her.

Well, I didn't give up on that situation. I kept going until I grew some sense into me, and if anyone is stuck on the same thing, I advice them to do as I did.

Family

Out of the most important things in an average person's life is their family. Many people don't have a family. That's why they're always sad anddon't know the value of a family. There are people who don't care about their family, but the truth is that there are many individuals in the world who wish they had a family. That's why I value my family.

In my opinion, my family is the best in the world because they love and care for me. They show me what a real family is by supporting me in everything I do. Everything I'm doing now is because of my family. I love them because I wouldn't be in tthis place if it wasn't for them. They have thought me everything about manners, they make me happy, and that's why I love them!

If you ask me, what is the real value of family? My answer will be everything in the world.

What I expected when I first came

When I first came to the United States, I was scared but also excited. I was scared because I didn't know anything about that country, and I was excited because I was in a new country. I was around eight or nine when I first came to the U.S. It was also the first time I met my grandmother. I thought that my grandmother would be taller, even though she was pretty tall for me, at that age.

When I came here, I thought that everyone spoke English. I didn't understand  anything anyone said. I thought that it was an all white school. Then, all of the sudden, some kid comes up to me and says, " Hola, como estas?" meaning hi, how are you in English. I was amazed how, out of all those people, I would find someone who speaks Spanish.

Another thing I expected was that I wouldn't make any friends. I was with my cousin, and then she left, so I was all alone in the line. I had nothing else to do but to stay in that spot and wait for the teacher. Suddenly, a girl came to me and said hi. Then, two of her other friends and said hi. That day I met five people.

I didn't what to say that day. I didn't expect to meet so many people on my first day of school. As you can see, my expectations were incorrect.

Where do your find support?

I find support everywhere I go. If I'm lost in something I just ask the person right next to me or, if there's nobody next to me, I look for someone who will help me.

The best place where I get support is at school. Every time I need help, I go to school and ask my teachers or counselor. If I'm ever stuck on something, on a homework or project, my teachers are always there to help me out on it. I've never had any personal problems, but I know that school is there to support me, if I ever do.

School helps me with a lot of things, but if there's one place where I know I would get help, is at my house. My siblings are always there for me when I need help. They support me in every decision I make, as long as it will benefit me. They always tell me to do my work. When I'm tired, they always help me out with things. My house is life the center of help to me.

What role does school play in your life?

Many people say that school sucks. That is school is just a waste of their time. They're always skipping classes. They don't so their work. They always try to get in- school or out of school suspension. They don't know what the value of getting an education is.

Well, if you ask me what the value of education is, my answer will be your future. School plays a huge role in my life. If it wasn't for school, I would be at home sleeping and being lazy. School has thought me most of what I know right now. Who knows where I would be right now if I never went to school. My mom always tells me that if I ever drop out of school (which I will never do), that she'll send me to the Dominican Republic again. I don't want that and, plus, I love school.

To me, school is one of the most important things in my life. If it wasn't for school, I wouldn't have so many friends. Also, I would have never met one of my favorite subjects. It plays a big role in my life because my future depends on it.

Child Support

People talk about child support all the time. In my opinion, child support is bad. I say that because when a woman has child support that means her and the baby's daddy when apart. some men say that women just do it to get revenge on the boyfriend or husband, while some women say that it isn't.

I won't say which one is true because I honestly don't know. People shouldn't be talk about those stuff. My mom never put any of her ex- boyfriends on child support. I guess it's because she is a independent women; she doesn't like depending on a man's money to support her children.

Child support is a good way for a single mother to raise her children because it may help her with the bills, food, or anything around the house. but I think it isn't good because the poor child or children don't have their father to be there for them, whenever they need him. Child support has a good side for women, but also a bad side for the children.

Poverty

Poverty is one of the worst conditions in which a person or family can be. There are many different types of poverty. There is normal poor, which is that you have some money, but they can't support the whole family. There bad poor, which means that you can't support anyone but yourself. Finally, there's really bad poor, which is that you don't even have enough money to support yourself.

Being poor is not a good thing. I mean, if an emergancy ever comes up, you may not have enough money to pay the medical bills, and trust me, medical bills are expensive. When you're poor, you are able to get an education, but the education may be limited. Poor people have a disadvantage because when they finish high school, college is not free. When you're poor, you have to work as hard as you can. You have to get As and Bs or even straight As because to get a scholarship, your grades have to be excellent.

Being poor is not a easy thing. Like others, they have to work hard to get what they want, but when it comes to things that include a lot of maney, they might not be able to do them.

Places I've lived

I've lived in som many different places that I don't even remember. But there's one thing for sure that I do remember, and that is that does places have only been located in the Dominican Republic and in the United States.

In the Dominican Republic (D.R.), I used to travel a lot. I don't remember that much because I was little, but My mom told me how we used to move a lot. When I used to live in La Duarte, a city in D.R., I was a baby. I used to escape out of the house and go onto the streets. I was lucky that no car crashed me because people drive like crazy in D.R. Then, a few years later, we moved in with the whole family in Los Mina. I was a little older there. I was like 4 or 5. In Los Mina, I used to play around so much. I was barely in my house; I was always out on the streets.

Now, I live in the United States. Here, I'm a little less of a trouble maker. When I moved here I was sad, but yet so excited to get to know a different place. It used to be like a prison here: I would go to school, back home and then all over again.

Music

In music, people express their feelings. It could be anger, sadness, happiness, or any other type of feeling. Some are dedicated to many people, and others to one specific. But what is special about dedicating a song to someone is too show either love or hate. I've listened to many songs, and most of the ones dedicated to people are about love or hate.

I listen to music based on how I feel. Sometimes they're about a girl I like; sometimes they're about being happy for something. To me, there is nothing in the world better than music itself. Music is a sensation. You can identify if a song is good just by listening to it. If it attrack you then it's good, if it sounds horrible then it isn't. People have many different tastes in music. Most of the time, people will like the same songs.

When I'm stressed, music helps me calm down. When I'm sad, I listen to sad music and then change it to happy music, so I won't be sad the whole day. Every time I listen to music and I'm sad, it makes me realize that, whatever reason it is, it's not worth being sad about.

Military

The military is a good way to show that you care for your country. Also, if you finish your job in the military and you do'nt get killed, they give you a house for free. They also pay for your college, which mens that you don't have to pay financial aid. People think that they can take advantage of the military, but the truth is that the military takes advantage of them.

I think that joining military forces aren't worth anything. Sure they give you a house and give your family a monthly check. But that check is just good for somethings like paying your mortgage. Joining military forces is not the only choice for getting the amount of money you need to go to college. There are many scholarships and grants in the world that can help you pay for college.

The military is good because it gets you trained for any trouble that comes to you. It is also good because it shows you care for the country that you live in. But dying in it is not worth the risk.

Bullying

In my life, I never got bullied. Maybe it's because I'm tall or maybe because I'm smart enough not to let people bully me. But in the end, I thank the lord for giving me the ife where I would never get bullied by others.

There are may schools in which people are being bullied all the time. In my school, I haven't seen anyone get bullied, so far. I'm happy about that because that's less chances of a person taking there life away because he/she have been getting bullied all the time. Through history, hundreds of kids have committed suicide each year because of the bullying problem. If I ever see a person, specially my friends, being bullied, I will stand up to the bully even though it means I have to fight with him or her.

I personally hate bullies. They're so stupid not to realize that they could kill someone by doing that. They make fun of kids, make they lives miserable, and many other bad things. I say "That's no good!" It is one of the biggest mistake in a person life to bully someone else. Therefore, I am completely against bullying.

Why I left

I The Dominican Republic my life wasn't the best, but it was definitely not bad at all. I loved the Dominican Republic, and I always will. MY mom didn't have the greatest life there, but I did. All my mom wanted to do was move to the U.S.A.

One day, my grandmother called and said that we got our visas. My mother was so happy she started jumping around like crazy. She wouldn't stop smiling. The only thing she did was keep it a secret, because the first time they're were trying to get the visa, people were wishing them bad luck so we never got them. To my mom, it was the greatest gift that god could have given her.

I wasn't so happy about leaving because all my friends were there. I asked my mom why we were leaving and she said it was so that I can get a better life. I have a better life now, in a way. In my home country, I used to have a lot more fun than in here. The thing is, that here, I have a lot more opportunities of making something out of myself than in D.R. That's the reason why I left.

Drugs

Drugs are illegal substances that people use because they want to or because they're stressed out and they need to calm down. In the late 1900s. drugs were legal in the Unitd States. Then scientists started to find out that these illegal substances create diseases that are killing thousands of people, so they made it illegal.

There are many drugs that are used for more than one thing. For example, marijuana. Marijuana is used for madications to cure people. It is also used to smoke it, which is really bad for the human body because it causes many damages in the brain and gives you lung cancer.

People who smoke drugs, like pot, crack, and cocaine, say that smoking is harmless. They say that they've been smoking for years and nothing has happened to them. But the truth is that you can overdose on these drugs. They can even cause you to commit suicide.

Drugs are one of the greatest causes of deaths in the United States. The government makes it illegal, but people still sell and smoke them. These drugs can feel good when you're smoking them, but the effects are not that good ones you think about it.

War

War ruins many people's lives. A lot of people like war, that's why they join the army, but many of us don't like war. I oppose war because, to me, it is pointless that we go to war with other nations for something we want, instead of just negotiating things out.

The government and many other people say, that to bring peace to a nation, you have to go to war. Well, I think that's just stupid. You don't have to go to war with other nations to bring peace. The only thing that can bring peace is nothing but peace itself. War causes millions of death each year and families of those who die suffer from it because they lose someone valuable in their family.

Nations just go to war to show others who have power. Well, I think it shouldn't be about showing power. I think that war shouldn't have even exited in the first place. War is no reason to show powerful nor respect because, if you kill someone, it's just going to bring hate into you. War is pointless.

Econmy

As we can the economy isn't Lawrence isn't good at all. There are streets that have mane holes. Bridges half fixed. Lawrence is poor, and that makes a huge change on the way we live. When city is poor, most of the people who live in it are poor. The prices of products go up. The unemployement rate goes up.

This is really bad because people have family they need to support. It could be either here or in heir home country and sine the economy is bad, they can't send money to feed their family. My mom didn't have a job mostly because she didn't know Emglish. People who only speak one language have little chances of getting jobs, and if they do have a job, when the economy goes down, they have the greatest chances of getting fired.

People also have big dreams and, because of the economy, they're ruined. They want to go to college, but they don't have enough money to. When the economy is bad, it is very hard to make a living.

My biggest strengths

I have many strengths. People just don't notice them. For example, I'm atheletic, a nice person, and smart. In school, I get mostly As and Bs. I say mostly because there was one subject that I decided to be lazy on this year, and I got an F on it. This wasn't good. I was so ashamed of myself.

I say I'm ath;etic because I'm in a great shape for my age. I love to do sports, and I'm great at them too. Specially baseball and basketball. Those are my two favorite sports. I love to go to the gym everyday to keep myself in shape. Being athletic is a good things for me because they allow me to do things most people can't.

Many people say I'm a nice person. I believe them because someone can't just say you're nice just because they feel like it. To be nice, you have to earn it; I believe I earned it because many people tell me I'm nice. Well, those are my strengths

Researching the college I would like to attend

The college I want to attend is not much of a college it's an institute. The name of the institute is Universal Technical Institute. Before, I wanted to go to Umass Lowell to study business management. Then' I wanted to be a lawyer, but I still wanted to go to the same college.

One day, I went to this college fair on the program that I'm on. The program is called Salem State University Upward Bound. Well, like I said, we went to this college fair in Boston. I was looking for colleges where I can study law, but at the end, I found UTI. It's a college to study to be an automotive technician.

An automotive technician deals with everything that has to do with a car engine. In UTI, they teach you how to build the engine of a car. There are also other majors you can go for. Like NASCAR, boats, and airplanes. They teach you how to fix the engine every time there's something wrong with it. They show you the different parts of the engine and what their duty is.

When I saw this college, I knew that it was what I was made for. Universal Technical Institute is the colege I'm going to attend.

What roles do various family members play in your life?

My mom: She plays a huge role in my family. She clens the house, washes the dishes, has a daycare, Goes shopping. My mom does everything that a typical mother does in a family, and I love her for that. She's always trying to bring peace to the house, when there's a problem. She's the most religious member in this family. She's always keeping me safe.

My little brother: He plays the second biggest, but yet the smallest. He's always playing around in the house making huge messes. He is the person that motivates me every time I look at him. Sometimes he gets me mad because he starts getting annoying, but he's the motivator.

My oldest brother: He plays the spoiler in my life. He's always buying me stuff. He's also always telling me to go to school. He buys me clothes every time I need some. Even though sometimes we get into arguments, he still encourages me to do things.

Prison

Luckily, I have never experienced going to jail. Neither any of my family members, as far as I know. Prison has ruined many people's lives. In prison, they treat the prisoners worst than animals. Prison is actually being stuxk inside a cage with a bunch of other people.

Well, if you think of it, there must be something that they did that they ended up in that place. Many might be innocent, but the its also their fault for getting involved in dangerous things. People should really think of what they are going to do before doing it. Prison is a very bad place. Specially if you are a guy who likes to travel or be at home.

Prison ruins people's lives. When you try to get a job the company is going to look at youre records and if you have any criminal records, the chances of you getting that job are extremely low. Going to prison is very bad because it keeps you from reaching what you want to be in the future.

Gangs

Gangs are one of the most dangerous things in the world. There are hundreds of deaths caused by gangs. Many people join gangs because they have trouble getting along with their families. Other people just join it because they want to fit in. They think that being in a gang is cool.

I think that the real reason why some people, like teens, join gangs is because they feel safer. They may be safer in a way, but at the same time they're not. You can get killed easily in gangs. In gangs, other gangs members make you do bad things. Some times, they even make you do things that you'll regret for the rest of your life.

Gangs aren't good because most of them include violence and other dangerous things. People join them because they feel safe, but the thing is that the chances of them being involved in violence are very high. Gangs are bad and I believe they should be stopped because they ruin people's lives.

Things/forces/people who hold me back?

There are people who are always there for you no matter what. There are others who, instead of being there for you, they try to get rid of you. Everyone needs a push ones in a while, like me.

People who don't encourage me to do things hold me back. They hold me back because when I have no one to encourage me, I won't be motivated to keep moving forward. Although I'm self motivated, I need someone by my side ones in a while.

Another thing that holds me back is when I try my best on something, and I don't get it. It pushes me back because it makes me want to give up on it, but at the same time, makes me think that giving up is also bad.

Teen pregnancy

Many girls are getting pregnant at young age now. They think that getting pregnant is the new style. Before, the average age for a women to get pregnant was from 21 to 26. Now, girls with 14 to 16 years of age start having babies. Teen pregnancy is very common here in Lawrence.

Every morning I see ladies, some younger and some older, walking into the daycare of my academy. They bring their babies in' and then head out to their classes. They act like if they haven't done anything wrong, but to me, they've done everything wrong by getting preganant at such young age.

I think that teen pregnancy is stupid. Why would they get pregnant at such young age? They think that having a baby is fun, but then it gets to the point where they have to take care of them. Somegirls have even dropped out because they couldn't go to school and support their baby at the same time.

What are things/forces/people that propel you forward?

Things/ forces that propel me forward:

When people encourage me to do the right thing.
When people take my side when I'm right.
Always having someone by my side.
When congratulate me for things I do good.
Having fun while doing my work.
Trying new things, even if it means taking a risk.
Looking at my little brother smile.
When I get good grades in school.
Getting rewarded for doing an execellent job on something or a class.

Each one of these things propel me forward because they make me proud of myself. Specially, if I succeed on it. These are the things that push me forward the most.

Exploring my hopes and dreams

I live with my mom and my little brother and I just want to get my mom out her job. I want her to stop working and rest because she's always working to put food on the table, to pay the bills, and to keep us under a roof.

My dream is to get my mom out of there. I want to finish college, get a house, and make my mom live with me. I don't want to live with my mom, I want her to live with me. People say is the same things, but it really isn't. Saying that I want my mom to live with me means that I want to be that one that works, put the food in the table, and keep them under a roof. It means me becoming the head of the house. I want to have a well paying job that will make me be able to have my own house, and support my family.

I hope I can reach my dream because I want to make my mom proud. Also, because I will proabably be first generation to go to college because my brothers dropped out. My mom puts pressure on me, saying that I better not dropped, to do my homework, to do the shores, to respect people, and I keep telling her that I'm not going to be like them because I have hopes and dreams. Also, that I like school; I'm not planning to leave it for anything in the world.

I hope I can reach my dream because I want to make my mom proud. I hope that one day my mom realizes that I'm different. I will try my best to reach my dream.

Judgements about me

People have different judgements about other people. I hate when people judge me negatively. It gets me very angry because they just don't know how to keep things to themselves. I believe tthat if a person has something to say about another they should just talk about it silently to that person.

People judge me all the time. When I'm on the streets. When I'm at school. There's not a place that I have gone and not been judged. When' they judge me, I just pretend I didn't hear them. I'm not a big fan of violence, so I'm not going to just me an argument about how I look. Some times they make me angry, and I burst out because some times they get to a spot where it's not even funny anymore.

People say bad things about me, some say good things. When they good things, I thank them because they're being polite and kind. But some people just don't know how to judge a person. When they judge me, it pulls me back a little, but it also shows me how awful it looks when people do it. So, I don't do it, unless there's a time I have to. I strongly believe that you shouldn't judge a person for how he/ she looks, they should judge them for how they act.

Storm

Today there was a storm that was coming this way. I was worried because the wind was very rough. I don't want anything to happen to my family nor me. My little brother was outside when the first wind blew. My mom was screaming at my cousins and at him to get inside. I wasn't really worried at that time because I didn't know anything about the lighting storm. I was just telling them to get upstairs because they needed to respect my mom.

Then, I heard in the news that there was a lighting storm coming toward Lawrence; I ran outside and dragged my little brother inside and told them to come inside right away. The wind almost blew my little brother to the fence, I was really scared. That wind was too strong for kids to be outside. My mom and I opened all the doors. I turned on the T.V. right away.

A lighting could kill someone very quickly and ruin the rest of that person's life. I'm scared to lose anyone I love because of a storm or anything like that. I'm not afraid of anything, except losing someone I love.

Osama Bin Liden's death

Osama Bin Laden's death was announced a few weeks ago. I was happy that he was killed. On the other side, I'm kind of not happy. He's just another human being and also,, the best hide and seek player ever.

 =

Bin Laden was a normal human being just like us. He did deserve to because of the impact on the twin tower, but killing him would just be another to start a war. Although he was killed, I admit that he really knew how to play hide and seek. The FBI, CIA, and other groups were looking for him, and they took more than five years to find him. I'm really glad he was killed, but there's always a consequence to something.

Things like these affect our everyday dreams. If another war starts, then the economy is going to go down. This will lower our chances of reaching our American Dream.

Parent's education

Many kids are lucky that their parents go to college. A lot of parents get payed well because of their education. But not all parents go to college.

There are many different reasons why parents don't go to college. My mom didn't go to college because she never had the opportunity. She had to go to school. Then, when she got out, she had to go work right away. Her life was very difficult, and I don't blame her for not making it to college. Our family was poor back then. Everyone in the house had to work to put food on the table. My mom would sew clothes for people to get paid.

My mom didn't have enough money, and she difinitely didn't have enough energy to go to college. So, she dropped out of school and got a full time job to help my grandmother with the house.

My birthday

My birthday was so boring. I thought I was going to enjoy it; that it was going to be the best. I was happy the whole day until I got home. In school, almost everyone remembered my birthday. At home almost no one did. My mom didn't even remember that it was my birthday until 11:00am, but you know what they say "better late than never." I don't really care about how it goes on my birthday. I just care about being alive and having someone by my side, who will support me in every good action I take.

If my birthday goes great, then it did. But if it doesn't, there's nothing I can do about. Even though my mom forgot my birthday, I still love her because she's always there when I need her. She takes care of me, feeds me, and everything. Sure, there are times that we argue, but things happen. It happens with many relatives. My mom forgets things one in a while, she makes mistakes like every other mom. But if there's one thing I know is that she is the best thing in my life. I love my mom with all my heart!

The effect on me

I told you about how my mom didn't dropped out of school last blog. Well, that not only has an effect on her, but it has it on me too. My mom couldn't go to college because she had problems with finding the money, and because she was always having problems with my grandfather.

This has an affect in me because I also have no money to go to college. This is the main reason why I want to go to college, but it's hard to keep going to school when I leave with a single mother trying to support my little brother and me. My mom does everything she can to put food in our table and to keep us under a roof. Now that she has a day care, she earns some money, but they'realmost tnot enough. She wants to get her license to be able to own her own day care, but it will take months or maybe a year.

Things like this is what makes it harder for me to become someone in life, but they also encourage me to try and try until I reach the top.

My mom and Grandfather

My mom and my grandfather never got a long. They were always fighting, arguing, and everything. The only thing my mom wanted to do was get out of the house. There never was a day when they got along. I don't really mind that they never really talked to each other, but when it came to thee point where they were fighting and each of them had a weapon, I would get in it and take my mom's side. My mom always said that he always put something on the food when he cooked it. Although I wasn't sure if my mom was lying or not, I never tried my grandfathers food.

There was one time that my mom left 100 pesos, Dominican currency, and they were stolen. My mom was arguing about how she doesn't trust anyone there, and how she wishes to movthe hell out of the house. Then, my grandpa was giving her 100 pesos from his pocket and she didn't take them because she thought they were damned. We never found out who stole the money, but she just took the ones my grandpa offered her.

I wish my family was never like this. I wish that no one argued at all. These type of things are the things that I think about when I'm sad and it really affects because it just makes me move a step backward from reaching my dream.

My fears now

My fears now aren't huge. Some of them have to do with violence, some of them don't. I'm just afraid of how far my education will go. I just want to live my life and forget about things. But I also want to focus in school.

School is my number one priority. I love school and I wouldn't leave it for anything in the world. Even though my mom didn't go to college, I want to finish it and make something out of me. In education, the thing I'm afraid of the most is failing. If I fail I'm going to be disappointed in myself. Not only that, but my mom will never leave my side, she'll make me do the homework everyday. I don't want my mom to do that because, then, I know that she's also disappointed in me.

Violence is one of the biggest problems in the world. To me is very big because I don't want to die. Also, I don't want to lose any of my loved ones in violence. These are the problems that pull away from reaching your dreams. I'm not a big fan of violence, and I don't like hearing about it in the news either.

Violence in the city

Many times I ask myself. Why is there always Violence in the world? I guess it's just how the world runs. Maybe it's just what some people were born to do. A simple kill can ruin a person's life.

When I hear that someone is killed in Lawrence, I get really sad. I get sad because that person probably didn't deserve to  die. That person might have done some wrong things, but but he/ she didn't deserve to be killed.

Things like violence ruin the future for people. This is one of the things that get in people's way when trying to reach their American Dream.

War effect

Vietnamese War

There's nothing worst than this,
there's nothing worst than that,
it is the biggest tragedy,
it is the Vietnamese war.

They pick you up like nothing,
they pick your name from a hat.
Well, I stand before it,
and I will burn my card.

I will stay here,
in the place where I belong.
Here I am protesting
against the Vietnamese war.

There are many poor families,
and the economy is going bad.
All I want is to ask the government,
what is the point of this war?

How is life as a rich person?

I've always wanted to be rich my whole life. When I was a little kid, I was imagined that rich kids are the happiest ever. They don't have to work. That they have would never get in trouble. That they were all smart.

Now, I found out that they aren't the happiest. A lot of rich people aren't even happy at all. It's true that they don't have to work, but they aren't happy. Many rich kids aren't even educated. The fact that they're rich makes them think that they don't need an education. That they could rely on their parents forever. Well, to me that's wrong. In other words, there are also a lot of smart rich people. I've seen rich kids that go to public schools and everything. They make me actually want to become like them or even overcome them.

Rich people aren't actually the happy. If you think of it, what's the point of having all that money when you won't spend it all? Many do give money to charity and similar programs, but the majority of them just don't care about the rest of the people. Those kind of people make me want to overcome them. Well, I plan on studying and becoming what I want in life.

Friends

There are many type of friends in the world. They could be close friends and they could be normal friends. Some you trust a lot, and some you don't. But the point is that they're friends.

Friends who are not that close, you probably don't trust. Some times you might, but it's very rare. These friends may encourage you do do things that are valuable to you, while others just don't care. To be honest, I don't trust many of my friends in some things. I rather just keep things to myself, and not make a mistake by telling them those things because they might spread out.

Close friends are a different thing. They don't only earn your trust, but they give you a voice. They listen to you when you're talking about something important to you. They're always there when you need them. Close friends are like brothers/ sisters that you never had. You guys might have an argument one day, but you guys wouldn't be mad your forever. What's good about close friends is that it's very rare to see them betray you or something similar to it.

There is a difference between normal friends and close friends. I just explained to you in this blog. People like your close friends support and encourage you to reach your American Dream or make it easy for you.

A Miracle

There are many miracles in the world. There are miracles that save lives. There are miracles that change people's minds. Some miracles are so big that after years on happening people don't even believe them.

When I was four years old, I was playing in the second floor of my house in Dominican Republic. I was having so much fun with my friends. We were playing hide and seek, tag, a Spanish game named "zero mata zero," and many other games. After we were done playing those games, we were bored and had nothing to do. To get ourselves entertained we decided to just jump around.

We were all just so just so crazy. We were running from the  wall to the second floor porch, and every time we got to the porch we would jump and then back again. Then came the incident. I got to the porch and I jump a little too high, so I fell down. Then, I thought it was just seconds later that I woke up, but it really wasn't. I woke up 6 months later. When my mom told me how long I had been in a coma, I said to myself, "God is giving me a chance, he's giving me a chance to make something out of myself." So ever since then my life turned around.

Who said that it's always a person that changes your life around? In my opinion, who ever said that is wrong. An accident changed my life. That accident made me think of how I should reach my American Dream.

Career change

Around the world, people have many different careers they want to go for. I'm one of them. I see a future in me and for other people too. Just like me, others change the career they want to go for. Many change from architecture to law and the other way around. But these aren't the only ones though.

When I was little. I always dreamed of being a lawyer. Being a lawyer is almost every young boy's dream. I always told my mom about how I would get her out of trouble if she got into them. I dreamed of win ALL of the cases I got into. Then, on my fresher-men year, I went to this career fair and I saw this institute called "Universal Technical Institute." My dream of becoming a lawyer went from 100% to 0%. I wanted to go for automotive engineering. Ever since I saw that institute, I was having dreams about building and designing cars, everything.

That was how I went from one career to another. Changes like these change the way you want to reach your American Dream. They help you pursuit what you really want in life. They help you find what you will enjoy the most. Changing careers is not always a bad thing.

New born baby story

A lot of people don't want their couples meeting their parents. I know why, because their moms always embarrass them. Every time they bring their date home, his/ her mom or dad always has to tell stories about them. But that's not all, I don't like being in family reunions because they always talk about my childhood.

Last time my family and I had a reunion they were all talking about me. I was the laughing stock. They were talking about how I use to act when I was little, etc.

One time my mom was telling the story of when she was pregnant. She told us about how she would work everyday, how she would work her butt off to keep food in the table. She had to take care of my two older brothers and I was a problem at the time because I was in her stomach. She would always imagine of playing with my hair, she talked about how she always wanted a girl and that she was sure that I was going to be a baby girl. She even had her own name for me, it was "Kerubee" or something like that. I was so embarrassed.

People like moms help the American Dream easier to reach. When I heard how she would work her butt off to keep food in the table and other things. I was amazed, even though she still works her butt off now, I was amazed of how she was pregnant and still worked to feed my brothers.

Change in me

Ever since I turn 10, I noticed big changes on me. I'm normal, and Just like every other human in the world, I change. There are people who, through out there lives, don't change a bit. There are people in high school who act the same way as they did in middle and elementary school. They may act mature; they may act immature, but they don't change.

I noticed that I've changed immensely through out my life. When I was little, I would get in trouble all the time. I would scape from school, which was and still is prohibited. I remember the guy who would always try to catch me every time I escaped from elementary school. Three times I crossed between his legs and escaped. I wouldn't care about school. But then, when I moved to the United States, I was a whole different person. All I focused on was school. I never skipped or anything.

Another thing that changed about me was my attitude. When I was little, I would swear at anyone who gave me attitude, hit me, got me in trouble, and I would treat everyone bad. Now, I'm a whole different person. I learned to treat others how you want to be treated, so I treated everyone good. The teachers noticed how I learned to respect them, I improve my learning skills, everything. When I passed to fifth grade, I never skipped a class, never escaped from school. I was a good kid and teachers loved me.

Changes like these are always a step forward. These changes help the American Dream of a person a lot easier to reach.

My opinion on social networks

Everyone loves social networks. I won't lie, I love them. The majority of the people in the world spend at least one or two hours on them. Everyone thinks that social networks are good. What they don't know is that they ruin people dreams and future too.

Many people spend their time chatting with friends and other stuff. They post what they think on them. They play games and post pictures. In these sites, you get to keep yourself in contact with your friends, your family, and get to meet new people. It also informs you of what other people do, like post pictures and other things. They also allow you to comment on their statuses, pictures etc.

There are many great things about social networks, but it also has its downside. People some times comment horrible things in these websites. Thousands of people have committed suicide because of these sites. But that's not all, everything you put on these sites stay there. For example, there was this teenager who posted a naked picture of herself, she wanted to delete it right away, but even though she erased it, it stayed on millions of people's minds.

Social networks are good in some occasions, but they're horrible on others. Things like this ruin other people's like, that's why every time I'm about to post something, I think of it before I do it.

My Education

People have many different ways of being educated. Others don't even care about education. They think that school is just a waste of time. People decide to skip classes and think it's cool. When people tell me "Hey, yo, I skipped two classes, and I never got caught," I would say in my mind, "Well good for idiot, you're the one that's losing not them."

Unlike those who don't care about school, there's others that devote their time to school. I'm not going to lie, I'm one of them. Going to school and getting an education is the most important thing to me. I have have people, like my mom, who encourage me to go to school, and I love that because not only do I want to go to school, but I have others who want me to go to school too.

I don't just think of myself in getting an education. I try to encourage others into getting it too. For example, I have a friend  who is the sister I never had. When I met her she would skip school, get Ds and Fs. Then one day I told her that I want her to get good grades and graduate from high school, at least. I told her that I would help her in anything she was stuck in. Now, I feel really proud and special because, today, she told me that she's getting Bs and Cs, and that she's doing this just for me. I feel like I made a change in her and that if I can do it, many others can too.

To me, this is a step to reaching my American Dream. I don't like to think of myself, I think of others too. My dream is to get a well paying job, a house with a family, and to give other people a hand when things get difficult in life.

My Goal

My everyday goal is to make the best of the day. People have many goals. There two types of goal; there's short- term goals, which is like planning your day or planning to buy something. There is also long- term goals, which takes a lot of planning and time.

Well my short - term goal right now is to make the best of this and next week. To do that, I have to plan the things I'm want to do and put them in a schedule. This will help me plan how much time I will spend on homework, and how much time I'm going to have for myself. Short- term goal doesn't have to be big, there just simple things you want to accomplish in a short period of time.

My long- term goal is to graduate from high school and college. But that's not all, I want to graduate high school and college getting honor roll in every year. This might effect my short- term goal, but to me it's worth it. To do this, I have to do all my homework and assignments. Who ever said that getting honor roll is easy? I say it's not, but when you're trying to get into college or getting a job, these things will increase the chances of you getting in or being higher immensely.

I can't wait to graduate from high school and college as an honor student! It has always been my dream, and I don't plan on giving it up.

My Grandma

My grandma was the best thing in the world to me. When I was in the Dominican Republic with the other half of the family, she would send us a lot of stuff like clothes, food, and etc. She was old, but she was able to do a lot of things; she worked in a factory, came home and cooked, clean around the house, and many other things. Everyday she would call us and ask how are we. She would tell us when she send the packages and what stuff is for who and for who is not.

My Grandma was really, really special to me and the family. She borrowed money from a lot of people to bring us to the United States. She was able to bring fifteen of us in one flight. She gave the money for our residents, for our visa, and everything else. We never came in first class, but it is amazing how one person would borrow money from other people and spend twenty years in the trying to get us here and being able to. She always wanted the best of us. She wanted us to become some one in life. My grandma was something special.

When we were in the United States, she had already gotten my aunt a job. We got to the house and it was a huge red house, how I always dreamt of having one. The job my aunt got helped pay the rent because my grandma couldn't pay it all by herself. My fourth year here in the U.S. my grandma died. The whole family cried so much. We loved her so much and we still do.

People like my grandma help you reach your American Dream. There's very few people in th world that would do huge things to make you succeed. She's one of the reason why I'm still in school. She always wanted the best of me, and that's what I'm going to be. Even if she's not here, I will make her and my family proud of me. I love my grandma for doing all those great things that got me here, where I stand today.

My Weekend (second blog)

My weekend was great. I enjoyed it so much. I spent time with my family. We all have a great time telling stories' jokes, and doing a lot of activities. I wish my weekened never ended. Well, I'm really excited about my weekend, incase you haven't noticed.

It was so funny, my baby brother was running and, all of the sudden, he slipped because there was water. Still, he ends up laughing with that little old man face he makes when he smiles. He's so adorable, when i got home from the mall, he said "Affy, a diga," baby talk for the spanish for the spanish phrase "Raffy, dios te bendiga." "Dios te bendiga" means god bless you. At this moment, he ran towards me, and that's how he slipped. Then, he starts fake crying; I pick him up, and all he does is laugh. I was kind of worried about him at first, but then I fell on the floor laughing because of what happened to him.

Three hours later, my annoying cousins come, and I just wanted to go to my room. When, I got to my room, I find out that they were following me, so I had to let them in my room no matter what. They start making a mess, which really got me mad, then I made them clean it up. They tried to go into my computer (At this moment I was downsstairs, playing PS3), but they didn't know that I had put a password in it, so they just left it there (TURNED ON) and my batteries got wasted when i got there. That's how I noticed that they tried to turn it on. Also, my computer tells me everytime someone tried to get in it.

The next day, my aunt comes with my uncle and we have a blast. We were making fun of eachother and other people in the family. Then, we're all talking and, randomly, my brother comes wrapped around a towel trying to act like Bruce Lee. It was so hilarious because he was trying to make a move and he fell off the couch. He was so embarrassed after noticing we were in back of him. I wanted to take pictures, but it all happened too quick. We were also trying out permit practice tests online to see who gets the most answers correctly. My brother won by one only five points ahead of me (each question was worth five points). I was happy with myself because I kept getting 85s and 90s on the tests just like my brother, but it all came to the last question where I got a 95 and he got 100. I was pretty upset because I'm very competitive. But in the right side, I know I'm prepared for my permit test on my birthday.
